Polar Poll 2025

As part of my class, Gov 2080 (Quantitative Analysis in Political Science), we run a campus poll of students, using questions designed by the class. There is a lot to dig into with the data, but here is the report on the marginals for the major questions.

One question we asked was about a favorite spot on campus, and we asked students to click on their favorite spot. Here is the heat map with the results. The quad in the center is a big spot for students, but so is the newly-renovated Sill Hall, which is the green “heated” area in the lower left of the map.

I’ve been doing this exercise for well over a decade. And response rates are always a challenge, since students are asked to fill out a lot of campus surveys. We tried a few different things this year, including an initial email to tell students a link was forthcoming, and we gave out 40 coupons to a random selection of respondents, redeemable at the campus cafe. These efforts seemed to help, as the response rate ticked up a bit from 2024, though it is still below what we have seen in years past.
